Chorus
The NPHS VPA Choral department ideology is that music makes students well-rounded individuals. All students are welcome to become part of our award-winning program, where they will participate in public performances each semester. An audition is not required to participate in beginning chorus, however students will be placed into appropriate course levels on an individual basis. Beginning chorus is designed to help students decide whether they want to continue a musical journey throughout high school.
Serious vocal students audition for placement into the intermediate and advanced chorus ensembles, including the premiere Vocem women’s chorus and/or Eclipse mixed ensemble chorus. In addition to the end of semester performances the advanced ensembles also participate in extra rehearsals to prepare for the Florida Vocal Association District Solo and Ensemble as well as the MPA Concert Assessments. The advanced groups are the choice ensembles selected for showcase events including special performances, travel opportunities and learning all music from the Mass Chorus. Piano keyboarding and a special vocal technique course techniques are encouraged to compliment the ensemble chorus courses. The vocal technique course focuses intensely on the solo voice, learning special sight reading, audition, and performance skills, and features an exclusive classical vocal recital.
